Yesterday I received my first ever Studio Calico kit, and it was a great way to end a bad week! I’ve never been subscribed to a kit before, and I thought this one was a really good value – $20 per month isn’t bad at all considering that you get a variety of media and they all coordinate. I’m not sure if it comes with the same things each month, but this month this is what the June kit looks like::
1 roll of washi tape
1 pad of sticky notes
1 sheet of chipboard heart stickers
1 acrylic stamp set
1 pack of die cuts
1 set of numbered cork stickers
2 alpha sticker sets (I may have gotten 2 only because it was my first month)
5 3×6 cards
25 3×4 cards
1 ‘Currently’ word embellishment
Note: Many of the die cuts and some of the cards have gold foiling, but it is a rose gold, not a true gold. Just FYI 🙂
I usually don’t jump onto bandwagons, but I’ve really been loving the trends lately, and I thought a kit would be a great way to get some of the trendy items (that coordinate) without having to get out and purchase everything individually. Overall I’d call the kit summery and trendy.
Like traditional Project Life cards, each of the journaling cards are double sided. All of backsides are the same pattern, but either the color is different or it is printed to fit horizontally into a pocket page.
I really love the 4×6 map card that was included in this kit – I think I am going to make a pen pal map with it for my Project Life album or maybe in my smashbook.
The thickness of the cards in this kit really surprised me. It seems like they are twice the thickness of the Project Life brand cards I’ve purchased. I’m not sure it’s necessary to have such thick cards – I’ve never had trouble with Project Life brand cards folding, it makes it feel like a higher quality, and that’s always good.
I am really excited to use the things included in this kit – although I may not use it for June necessarily. The good thing about paper crafting supplies is that you can use them for almost any crafting project. I can use these supplies for Project Life, Smashbooking, Pen Palling, or any number of other projects, so everything here is bound to find a home eventually. I can’t wait to see what comes out in future kits!
